Summary
This collection documents the professional photography of David Seymour (CHIM), renowned photojournalist and cofounder of Magnum Photos. The images in this collection document major conflicts and their aftermath, including the Spanish Civil War, the lead up to World War II in Europe, the aftermath of World War II, and the Second Arab-Israeli war. A particular focus of CHIM's work is the impact of these conflicts on children, including images of orphanages, refugee camps, and children on the street. His work also documented world events, like the 1950 Nobel Prize ceremony and the sixth General Assembly of the United Nations, and images of daily life in Italy, Vatican City, and Israel. This collection also includes portraits of celebrities taken throughout his career, including images of Ingrid Bergman, Roberto Rossellini, and Sofia Loren.
